If you haven’t already known, Pokémon Go is bringing back the solstice-themed event as well as the Bug Out event. These two events are going to be held on succeeding Fridays. Today we take a deeper look at these two events.

Before we do that however, there’s a Pinsir Raid Day happening towards the end of the month on June 28. Starting at 11:00 AM and running until 2:00 PM (local time), three-star raids are going to feature Pinsir. Before the event arrives, be sure to have your Remote Raid Passes ready.

The Sun and Moon

The Sun and Moon event starts this Friday, June 19 at 8:00 AM and ends by Wednesday, June 24 at 10:00 PM local time.

Features of this event include:

  • Pokémon associated with the sun and moon, which include the likes of Clefairy and Sunkern, are going to:
    • Appear more frequently in the wild
    • Hatch from 5 km Eggs
    • Appear after completing event-exclusive Field Research tasks
    • Appear in raids
  • A chance to encounter Shiny Clefairy in the wild.
    • Previously this Pokémon could only be obtained by hatching a Shiny Cleffa and then evolving it.
  • Lunatone and Solrock are going to:
    • Appear in three-star raids
    • Hatch from 5 km Eggs
    • Appear in the wild in different regions. The schedule is:
      • June 19 at 8:00 AM to June 20 at 11:59 PM (local time)
        • Lunatone appears in the eastern hemisphere
        • Solrock appears in the western hemisphere
      • June 21 at 12:00 AM to June 22 at 11:59 PM (local time)
        • Lunatone and Solrock appear everywhere
      • June 23 at 12:00 AM to June 24 at 10:00 PM (local time)
        • Lunatone appears in the western hemisphere
        • Solrock appears in the eastern hemisphere
      • Once the event is over:
        • Lunatone stays in the western hemisphere
        • Solrock stays in the eastern hemisphere.
  • Bonus
    • 2x Catch Stardust

Bug-out Event

After the first event ends, Trainers only need to wait a few days before the new event starts. This event begins on Friday, June 26 at 8:00 AM (local time) and ends on Wednesday, July 1 at 10:00 PM (local time).

Features of this event include:

  • Bug-type Pokémon like Scyther, Venipede, and Dwebble are going to:
    • Appear more frequently in the wild
    • Hatch from 5 km Eggs
    • Appear in event-exclusive Field Research tasks
    • Appear in raids
  • A chance to encounter Shiny Dwebble.
  • Incense is going to attract more Bug-type Pokémon. The schedule is:
    • June 26, at 8:00 AM to June 27, at 11:59 PM (local time)
      • Nincada is attracted more often to Incense.
    • June 28, at 12:00 AM to June 29, at 11:59 PM (local time)
      • Wurmple is attracted more often to Incense.
    • June 30, at 12:00 AM to July 1, at 10:00 PM (local time)
      • Scyther is attracted more often to Incense.
  • Bonus
    • 2× Catch XP
