We just got a whole lot of information about one of the biggest PlayStation-exclusive titles. Horizon Forbidden West , the sequel to Horizon Zero Dawn, was announced 11 months ago with a cinematic trailer. The trailer lets us know that our protagonist Aloy will be exploring the area known as Forbidden West. It is called that because anyone who goes to the West doesn’t come back. But it’s not gonna stop Aloy now, will it?

That cinematic trailer showed off cool new machines, a new threat, and teased some gameplay changes. Well, now, we finally have a closer look after Guerrilla Games revealed around 14 minutes of brand-new gameplay footage yesterday.

The footage was a mixture of cinematics and gameplay taken from PS5, and of course, the visual looks impressive. Honestly, it looks too good to be true and I smell a downgrade coming. I have no idea how PS4 will be able to run the game and it may lead the developer to make some serious cutbacks on the PS4 version.

The forbidden west is dangerous and thus Aloy will need more tools. She will have access to a grappling hook which she can use to quickly close distance. She can paraglide via a holographic umbrella. Using Focus will reveal climbable areas while using Smoke Grenades for quick escapes. Swimming element and underwater exploration has been introduced as well.

There are more rideable machines including a robot-velociraptor which is usable in combat. She also fought a robot-mammoth via new weapons. The weapon wheel is increased to six weapons, an upgrade from the previous four (THANK YOU FOR THIS). Although the trailer didn’t mention a release date or a release window, it has been mentioned that the game is planned for late 2021.

Horizon Forbidden West will be released on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. The PC version of the game has not been announced yet, however, I would expect it to release on PC after a few years just like Zero Dawn and other first-party titles.

So what do you think? Are you excited about Horizon Forbidden West ? Are you planning to preorder the game? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
