It looks like the wait won’t be long as Hitman 3 is getting ready for Year 2 on January 20. There’s a new game mode called the Elusive Target Arcade arriving on the same date. Another new mode, titled Freelancer, drops sometime in Spring 2022.

A New Kind of Elusive Target

Elusive Target has long been part of the game, but this version takes that concept to an entirely new level. It introduces players to new challenges and unlockable rewards while keeping the essence of Elusive Targets interesting and exciting to play. One of the changes that players can expect is that each Arcade Contract tasks them with taking down consecutive Elusive Targets. That means one contract after the other. In addition, each must be completed to proceed to the next contract.

Those who fail an Arcade Contract at any point experience a 12-hour lockout before they can take the contract again from the start. So, the mode keeps the high-stakes gameplay while giving players a clear indication of when they can try and take out the Elusive Target again.

For the first set of the Elusive Target Arcade, the first targets are the Ellipses, followed by the Quanta, and then the Vitae.

Freelance Work

In addition to the Elusive Target Arcade, a new single-player mode called Freelancer will introduce rogue-like elements, strategic planning, and a customizable safehouse. The highlight here is Agent 47's Safehouse map. It's a playable and customizable space that allows players to define Hitman they want to be. As players progress through this mode, more areas of the Safehouse are unlocked, along with new customization options becoming available.

This mode makes some rather interesting changes. For example, while in the Safehouse, players can choose what gear they want to bring on missions. But unlike the main campaign, any gear brought on a mission is lost. That means players need to always restock their inventory, especially consumables.
