Hitman 3 was released in January this year, and since then, it has reached 50 million players. This makes it the most successful game of the franchise. In 2022, the extensive post-launch content continues with new maps, new storylines, new modes, and new ways to play. Year 2 officially starts on January 20, 2022.
In a post, developer IO Interactive shared that with Intel, they are more than committed to offering the best possible performance and optimization, especially for its PC players. Currently, the game has been enhanced for PC through support for 8+ core CPUs and variable rate shading. For next year, players can expect ray tracing coming to PC.
IO Interactive also revealed that right now, the game has support for PS VR. PC players would be happy to know that Hitman VR is coming to the platform in January 2022. Full technical details of this feature are to be announced before the official start of Year 2.
So what else is coming? There’s going to be a new game mode called Elusive Target Arcade. It will offer players the ultimate Elusive Target challenge, which should be a welcome change to the already established formula of this fan-favorite game mode. The Elusive Target Arcade content is set to be a permanent addition to the game. Full details of this new mode are set to be revealed sometime in early January 2022.
Finally, IO Interactive also teased a major update arriving in Spring 2022.
Hitman 3 is the last entry in the World of Assassination trilogy which started with Hitman in 2016 and Hitman 2 in 2018. It concludes the story where Agent 47 and his allies hunt down the leaders of Providence, the secret organization controlling the world's affairs. The game has players travel to different locations to carry out contracted assassinations.
One of the new gameplay features is persistent shortcuts. Each stage has doors that are initially locked and can only be opened from one side. Once unlocked, the doors stay open in future playthroughs. These allow players to reach some of those closed-off locations quickly.
Hitman 3 is available on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch, and Stadia.
