IO Interactive's upcoming title, Hitman 3, is one of the first games you should play this year. The third and final installment in the World of Assassins trilogy will release on January 20, 2021. The game will bring six brand-new missions and locations.

That’s not all! Hitman 3 will have several graphical and technical improvements. And those aren't just for the latest entry, but for the previous two games as well. All new features and improvements will be carried backward to Hitman (2016) and Hitman 2.

Technical Improvements

The developer confirmed that the last two games will get superior textures and better screen-space reflection, and that’s not even the best part. IO Interactive has worked very hard to reduce the digital footprint of all of its games. Right now, Hitman (2016) and Hitman 2 take more than 110GB in space, and that excludes DLCs and expansion packs.

Space Optimization

The developer mentioned compressing all three Hitman games, which will only take 100GB of storage space. This is a big achievement nowadays. Some games take more than 200GB (cough, cough Modern Warfare), and here, IO Interactive is giving you three games for 100GB.

“Biggest wins are because of data management and file structures and how we deliver the game so we could remove duplicate data. We also use newer and better compression for textures – that helps too,” the developer said in a forum.

Keep in mind that the 100GB consists of three games. So, if you only want to play Hitman 3, then the game's size is significantly smaller. How small? Well, that hasn’t been revealed yet.

Hitman 3 will release on PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and Stadia with pre-orders live right now. If you want to learn more about the game, then check out our previous article.
