Hearthstone: Patch 25.6 Brings Back Buddies to Battlegrounds

Look what's back!

Good news to Hearthstone players who love Battlegrounds. Patch 25.6 is out and it's bringing back Buddies!

If you're new to the game, Buddies are minions unique to each hero and designed to synergize with the hero gameplay. With this new update, they'll now work a little differently than before. Instead of the complicated Buddy Meter, there's just the Buddy Button and all you need to do is press it any time and get your Buddy.

Of course, it won't be free. The Buddy Button has an initial cost based on the Buddy's Tavern Tier. This cost is reduced by three gold for each combat win or tie and increased by two gold for each combat loss. However, the activation of the Buddy Button is limited to twice per game. The first time the button is pressed, you get one copy of your Buddy. The second time it's pressed, you get two copies.

By the way, heroes that previously didn’t have a Buddy now have one.

New Hero

Battlegrounds get a new hero with the new patch which is E.T.C., Band Manager. Details include:

  • Hero Power - Sign a New Artist (4 Gold).
  • Discover a Buddy. (Unlocks at Tier 2).

This new hero gets a Buddy:

  • Buddy – Talent Scout (Tavern Tier 5)
    • 4 Attack, 4 Health.
    • Battlecry: Make a Buddy Golden.

General Updates

  • Heroes now have 30 starting Health (except for Patchwerk) and Armor Tiers are being removed. Instead of a range of Armor, each hero has a set amount of Armor, from 5 to 20.
  • The starting Cost to upgrade from Tavern Tier 4 to Tavern Tier 5 has increased from 9 Gold to 11 Gold.
  • Some Buddies had their minion types adjusted to match the minion type updates since Buddies were last in the Tavern.

What do you think? Excited about Battlegrounds?

Aside from different changes, Patch 25.6 also prepares the stage for the game's upcoming expansion Festival of Legends. Read more on what to expect when it comes out this April.

Hearthstone is available on PC, Android, and iOS.
