July is always a big month for "Pokémon GO," and 2025 is no exception. With the game's ninth anniversary, GO Fest events, and a tidal wave of limited-time activities, trainers have had their hands full. But with the month approaching its midpoint, things are finally starting to dial back, just in time for one giant day of events planned for July 19.
If you're one of the fans looking to enjoy the game's top-of-the-line seasonal goodies, this Friday is your day to play. From unique raids to exclusive Pokémon, Niantic is loading up on events that will please all types of trainers.
Gigantamax Lapras Makes a Limited-Time Appearance
One of the best highlights is the release of Gigantamax Lapras. This limited Water-type Pokémon will be seen in Max Battles between 2 PM and 5 PM local time, and it's the jewel of the current Water Festival.
In this encounter, trainers can do Timed Research tasks to obtain items such as Max Particles, candy, and a Dynamax Passimian. It's all in preparation for what appears to be one last boss battle, a concert-fueled Lapras that boasts a beautiful G-Max move set. This is a one-time thing, so trainers looking to obtain Gigantamax Lapras won't want to miss this slim three-hour window.
Summer Concert Kicks Off With Uncommon Chatot Meeting
As Gigantamax Lapras departs at 5 p.m., the celebration doesn't end. That's when the Summer Concert event starts, offering unique in-game music and the ability to catch Chatot, a region-exclusive Pokémon typically only found in the Southern Hemisphere.
Running nightly from 5 PM to 8 p.m. (July 19–22), the Summer Concert guarantees an easy-going, music-filled search for Chatot with a special soundtrack said to be carefully selected by Junichi Masuda, one of the franchise's great composers.
According to GameRant, this event incorporates nicely into the musical theme launched by Gigantamax Lapras, allowing players to enjoy a whole evening surrounded by Pokémon GO's festive ambiance.
Water Festival Bonuses Make July a Treat for Trainers
These events are overlaid on top of the existing Water Festival, which contains additional incentives for fans of the Water type. Incentives include:
- Additional candy for Nice Throws or higher
- Higher rates to catch Shiny Staryu and Shiny Tirtouga
- Spawn boosts for water-type Pokémon
It's an excellent time to stock up on fresh Pokémon and level up your team with minimal grinding.
More Surprises May Be on the Way
Although most of these current events conclude on July 22, this is also the day that Pokémon Presents is rumored to go live, potentially announcing future content for "Pokémon GO. "
Previous presentations have revealed significant updates such as Pokédex additions and Paradox Pokémon, so fans need to be watchful even with the minor changes.
