"Halo: Combat Evolved" will reportedly not include a multiplayer mode for its remake, according to new rumors about the game.
Should this rumor come true, players would still have a lot to look forward to from "Halo: Combat Evolved" even without its multiplayer mode as it features a massive campaign and more to enjoy.
'Halo: Combat Evolved' Removes Multiplayer Mode
ComicBook Gaming reported that a new rumor about "Halo: Combat Evolved" remake has surfaced, but it bears bad news for fans who are awaiting the game's future potential release. "Halo: Combat Evolved" is reportedly removing the multiplayer mode which the title originally made available for players.
According to Rebs Gaming, a YouTuber and source for all things "Halo," the reboot would not feature any multiplayer experiences when it releases shortly as there were no mentions of this from their sources.
"Halo: Combat Evolved's" multiplayer mode is one of the most beloved features of the iconic title. The "Halo" games are best known for their massive story campaigns, and it looks like the remaster will focus on this as well.
"Halo: Combat Evolved" is rumored to have a target release date for next year, five years after the last mainline title from the franchise, "Halo Infinite."
'Halo: Combat Evolved' Remake
The source also highlighted a report claiming that there was "tension" over at Halo Studios before the Xbox layoffs took place earlier this year, hinting at the uncertainty over the sci-fi shooter franchise.
That being said, "Halo: Combat Evolved" remains a project that would be available to gamers and did not get canceled by the studio.
"Halo: Combat Evolved's" remake is reportedly a "testing ground" for the future of the franchise, particularly as they recently made a move to use Epic Games' Unreal Engine 5. The development of the 2001 game's remake began in 2023, and the team's focus would only be on highlighting the campaign of this 24-year-old game for its upcoming 25th anniversary next year.
There is a speculation that the game's multiplayer experience may be developed under a different multiplayer project. That being said, a new multiplayer project for "Halo," set to be the next in the franchise, is said to be under development, per Rebs Gaming.
