Halo Infinite Adds Infection Mode in Season 4

Can you protect yourself from the Infection? 343 Industries

Season Four of Halo Infinite is finally here! There's a lot of new content to enjoy, including two new maps and a new 100-tier Premium Battle Pass. New equipment is also available along with five free events where everyone can earn new customization content. The highlight though is the arrival of the Infection game mode.

For those new to the game or the Halo series, here's a quick recap of the Infection mode:

  • This is a round-based mode where one team, known as Infected, converts opposing players, called Survivors, to their team upon killing them.
  • For each round, a limited number of players are chosen as Infected and are called Alpha Infected.
    • They have more aggressive Iratus-themed effects applied to them.
    • Those they kill are converted to Beta Infected.
  • Survivors start with limited supplies.
    • This means they need to get additional weapons, equipment, and ammunition from the map.
    • Their goal is to survive until the end of the round.
  • The goal of the Infected is to eliminate all Survivors.
    • The last Survivor, the Last Spartan Standing, has special traits applied to them like Overshield and infinite ammo.
    • A nav point reveals their location to all Infected.

New Maps

The new season brings two new maps to the game. The first is Scarr which introduces the mechanized heart of a massive Banished mining operation. This is where the big team combat happens, featuring vehicular action, teleporters, and kinetic launchers. Pretty much everything you know and love about big team battles is here.

The second is the Forest which has mystery and mayhem. It's located in a dense jungle world where ancient intrigue is commonplace. This asymmetrical Arena map has fascinating stone structures, tranquil outdoor spaces, cascading waterfalls, and towering woodlands. Players can also see the rocky cliff faces which contrast the narrow indoor corridors.

New Equipment

Two new pieces of equipment have arrived and will surely make players happy. The Threat Seeker needs some skill to use but when done right, it can get information on the enemies' location. Compared to the Threat Sensor, this one only sends out one pulse and needs enemies to be within its line of sight as it doesn't work across walls. The projectile though can bounce and reward accuracy and enable more strategic use.

The other equipment is the Quantum Translocator that takes what teleporters have to the next level. It was developed with as much impact as Active Camo or Overshield.
