More importantly, the team's presentation shared information on key details of the movie project, including the people who are set to lead its development for the big screen.

'Call of Duty' Movie Adaptation Coming by June 2028

According to the official "Call of Duty" account on X, the game's movie adaptation is set for a theatrical release on June 30, 2028. This timeline is more than two years from now, and it could mean that the team is still around the pre-production stage, including scriptwriting, casting, and more.

Collider reported that the announcement came during Paramount's CinemaCon presentation, where the studio included "Call of Duty's" movie adaptation as part of the reel of the studio's upcoming projects.

It is important to note that the June 30 release date of the movie will also coincide with the 25th anniversary of the original "Call of Duty," which first launched as a PC game in 2003.

"Call of Duty" has been the top-selling video game series in the United States for 16 consecutive years and has reached over one billion players throughout its lifetime.

The "Call of Duty" movie adaptation project was first rumored in 2025, with Paramount previously expressing its interest in co-developing and producing the film alongside Activision Blizzard. It was now revealed that Paramount will distribute the film.

Peter Berg will direct the film and co-write the script alongside Taylor Sheridan, with the duo also serving as its producers, alongside David Glasser and Rob Kostich.

Activision head Rob Kostich said during the CinemaCon presentation via a video message that the goal is to capture the authenticity of the franchise on a human level while also giving it an "epic scope" (via The Hollywood Reporter).

According to the reports, the studio and showrunners will develop a film adaptation that will suit the preferences of fans, featuring what they love about the franchise, but will also make it appealing to people who have not played the game.
