The expanding availability of Xbox games on PlayStation may be bringing one of the biggest games of all time to Microsoft's console, as a new leak suggests it points to "Halo." Earlier rumors have suggested that "Halo" is part of the many games and experiences coming to the PlayStation as part of Microsoft's aspirations to become a games distributor in the industry.
So far, there have been no confirmations yet from Microsoft about "Halo's" arrival on the PlayStation, but other Xbox games have already made their way to the rivaling console and more.
PlayStation Leak: 'Halo' Announcement Is Coming
A new report from a source, grunt.API, via X, brings significant news to the future of Xbox's expansion, particularly as a leak from the PlayStation Network's API reveals evidence of a "Halo" game coming soon. The data miner claimed that this is a significant development regarding the earlier rumors surrounding "Halo's" arrival on the PlayStation, providing more concrete information.
Previously, it was only rumored that Xbox's most famous game and franchise, arguably synonymous with the gaming division, is coming to the PlayStation, following other titles that have been made available to Sony's platform. The most recent release from Bethesda Softworks, "Indiana Jones and The Great Circle," dropped for the PlayStation and saw significant popularity among players.
According to GameRant, the dataminer claimed that they "can now officially confirm" a "Halo" game is coming to the PlayStation. Still, the source later stated that it would not be "Halo: The Master Chief Collection." In addition to this, the source also noted that the game's release on PlayStation would not be the recent installment in the franchise, "Halo Infinite."
Will This PlayStation Version be a Remake Release?
The speculations are now focusing on one game to bring the renowned sci-fi action shooter to the franchise, and that is "Halo: Combat Evolved," a game initially released in 2001. This iconic game from 24 years ago is already considered a classic among "Halo" and Xbox fans. Although it is not one of the latest releases, a remake of the game would still be an excellent way for PlayStation gamers to experience the franchise.
The data miner also noted that the current evidence of a "Halo" game's branching out to other consoles is only visible from PlayStation's API, with the also-rumored Nintendo Switch version remaining unconfirmed.
Fans have different sentiments on which "Halo" game they want to see on the PlayStation, with many looking forward to "The Master Chief Collection" and some wishing for it to be "Infinite." They regarded the Master Chief Collection as the best starting point for the PlayStation, as it would serve as an introduction to the franchise, especially for those who had never played any of its games before.
This broad campaign by Microsoft to bring more Xbox games to other consoles has already begun, with "Halo" being the next title to cross over to other platforms.
