"Halo" developers are teasing new things coming for the franchise, and they confirmed that more will be revealed to gamers in the upcoming Halo World Championship 2025 (HaloWC) event later this year.
The developers felt the need to share their insights regarding the franchise following massive speculations and rumors surrounding the game, especially as many fans are growing restless.
It has been four years since the last mainline "Halo" game was released. 2021's "Halo Infinite" made its way to the Xbox Series S and X, as well as via Windows PCs.
'Halo' Devs Tease New Reveal This Year via HaloWC
The latest blog post via Halo Waypoint by the developers has addressed key factors in the franchise, especially amidst the uncertainties and speculations regarding the game. It is unusual for the "Halo" team to respond to rumors and speculations circulating amongst its fans, but this time, they felt the need to respond to gamers.
Fans are already growing restless regarding the future of the franchise, and according to ComicBook Gaming, last year's Halo World Championship 2024 gave its player base a promise to reveal more about what is planned. In the upcoming Halo World Championship 2025, fans may expect the developers to share something new for the future of "Halo," but the developers did not share further information apart from that.
The developers first addressed that in last year's HaloWC, they talked about the switch to Unreal Engine via "A New Dawn." According to the devs, "Last year at HaloWC, we premiered 'A New Dawn' where we talked about the switch to Unreal Engine, gave you a behind the scenes look at Project Foundry, and debuted our evolution to Halo Studios as we enter a new chapter for Halo."
That being said, they followed it up by saying "For us, 'A New Dawn' was just the beginning–at this year's HaloWC, we look forward to continuing the conversation."
Is a "Halo" Game's PS5 Version Coming?
There is still a massive ambiguity as to what the developers shared in their latest post, particularly the meaning behind their statement "continuing the conversation" as there were no specifics as to what lies ahead.
Fans would have to wait until October for the Halo World Championship 2025 to take place and witness what is it the devs have to offer for the franchise's future.
Many rumors have already talked about what "Halo" has in store for the future, including the anticipated PlayStation 5 release of a title as part of Microsoft's continued effort as a games distributor. In this rumor alone, fans are still clueless about what they will port to the rival console, whether it would be "Halo Infinite" or "Halo: The Master Chief Collection."
Additionally, there is another rumor regarding "Halo: Combat Evolved's" upcoming remake in time for the game's 25th anniversary next year, but that too remains unconfirmed by Microsoft and its developers.
Halo Studios' work on the future of the franchise remains shaky, but questions may be answered come HaloWC 2025.
