Eight years after the release of the first "Hollow Knight" game comes the sequel that many fans have been waiting for.
But the question is, are the fans enjoying this much-awaited sequel?

'Hollow Knight: Silksong'
Released on September 4, 2025, "Hollow Knight: Silksong" is a Metroidvania video game developed and published by Team Cherry. As previously mentioned, it is the sequel to 2017's "Hollow Knight."
In the sequel, the player takes control of Hornet, the princess of the fallen kingdom of Hallownest. Captured and transported to a land called Pharloom, Hornet must solve quests and engage in action on her way to reach the kingdom's peak.
'Very Positive' on Steam
As of press time, "Hollow Knight: Silksong" has more than 155,000 user reviews on Steam, which has categorized them as "Very Positive."
"Team Cherry had the impossible task of creating a sequel for one of the most beloved indie games in the industry," Steam user Kronite said in a review. "The community built hype, piggy backing off of memes and made impossible expectations for such a small indie team to handle."
Kronite added, "And yet? They delivered what I would consider a masterpiece — one that polishes everything great about the original while introducing the exact changes the genre needed."
"It surpassed the previous installment in every way I can think," Crasher TN - gB said in a separate Steam review. "The world and soundtrack are beautiful. Bosses have much more complex and harder patterns, but you also have a wider arsenal of moves too. Incredible characters too."
4.3 Stars on Google Reviews
Over at Google Reviews, "Hollow Knight: Silksong" is enjoy a 4.3-star rating as of writing.
"Incredible follow up to the previous entry from Team Cherry," Joshua Loos said in a Google review. "Our new protagonist Hornet as seen in 'Hollow Knight' is much more agile and acrobatic than the nameless knight making traversal a breeze and combat feel like a flowing dance."
"'Silksong' is a pretty perfect follow-up to 'Hollow Knight,'" Jake Matthews said in a separate Google review. "Sure, it 'feels' very similar to the original, but what did you expect/want after the original defined how a metroidvania should feel? I think 'Silksong' is paced rather perfectly, which was a slight issue I had with the original."
