Gamescom is happening throughout the week, and as such gamers can expect a ton of new announcements surrounding highly anticipated titles, as well as new releases from publishers and developers. Nothing beats the excitement surrounding fresh news on upcoming titles, and these are at the center of the five-day major gaming event at the Koelmnesse in Germany. Be sure to stay tuned with us the whole week as we bring you the latest from Gamescom 2019 in the form of the latest trailers, announcements, news and other information drops on all the newest games hitting the market.

One of my most anticipated games of 2019 is id Software’s DOOM Eternal, which has just unveiled the terrifying DOOM Hunter in a 1 minute 40 second trailer.

The clip starts of with an ominous voice describing the DOOM Hunter as a creature meant to destroy the DOOM Slayer, or more affectionately, Doomguy. Its appearance is reminiscent of Nemesis from Resident Evil 3, which is a mix of flesh and electronics (and a receding gumline), although DOOM Hunter has menacing horns and a single eye at the middle of his head. He also one ups the Resident Evil 3 antagonist with his weaponry, his left arm replaced by a chainsaw and his right arm by a what looks like a shotgun with a skull-shaped barrel. Halfway through the trailer, I was still waiting for the DOOM Hunter’s bottom half to appear, only to be greeted by his equipped jetpack legs.

Gameplay against the DOOM Hunter followed soon after, showing its menacing size, flurry of missiles in its arsenal, and swings and swipes that Doomguy effortlessly dodges with grapple moves.

It is still unclear whether DOOM Hunter will be playable in Doom Eternal’s Battlemode, since it seems like an ungodly OP character if it is the case. Nevertheless, we should soon find out once the game drops for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC on November 22, 2019.

Be sure to stick around for more news on the latest happenings at Gamescom all throughout the week.
