Things got steamy in The Roci between Naomi and Holden during The Expanse Season 1. The tension between the two was beginning to pick up, but with all the explosions and mystery bioweapons, there was little time for romance. However, sparks will continue to fly in The Expanse Season 2, series star Dominique Tipper told iDigitalTimes.

“Well, yes. Holden and Naomi get romantic this season,” said Tipper, who plays Naomi. “But I don't think it’s going to play out in the way anyone expects.”

With that bit of information, the question is no longer will the two get together, but how long will their relationship last? From what Tipper said, it may not be very long.

“There is a part of the season where I’m not with the boys and I have to go off and do some really difficult things on my own,” Tipper revealed. “The reason why I leave them is also really juicy,” she teased.

Naomi doesn’t seem like the kind of person to leave the team because of a relationship gone bad. At a certain point, the dynamic between she and Amos became very tense, but she didn’t let it affect the team. While the reason Naomi leaves may not be Holden, the two will begin to drift apart because of philosophical differences.

“Within them getting more intimate you get to know someone better right. What actually comes between them is their political beliefs and where they stand -- me growing up as a Belter and him as an Earther,” Tipper said.

The introduction of Bobbie Draper will add the Mars perspective to the show. Not only will Season 2 explore what Mars has to do with this big conspiracy, but we’ll get to see the overarching political themes play out on a smaller scale between Naomi and Holden. Tipper said Naomi is trying to figure out where her loyalties lie.

“They cling to each other, and what you see is a relationship play out almost out of desperation,” Tipper said. “They want to be together but things are drawing them apart.”

A relationship between Naomi and Holden could put Amos in a weird position, especially since Holden and Amos were at each other's throats most of the first season. However, Wes Chatham said at The Expanse New York Comic Con panel that it could end up being a good thing for his character.

“You get to see in the second season who Amos is without Naomi’s direction,” Chatham said. “The only relationship Amos cares about is his relationship with Naomi, but the Roci crew becomes his family and the closest relationships he’s ever had in his life.”

The Expanse Season 2 premieres Feb. 8 on SyFy.
