The pandemic has resulted in a lot of changes in the way we do things. Many companies have chosen to have their employees work from home. Late-night talk shows have gone online as well. There have even been concerts that being held virtually, or are being planned to be livestreamed.
Fortnite appears to be upping the ante as well with its Travis Scott Crossover. The hip hop star is set to debut his latest song, Astronomical, in partnership with Epic Games. So what makes this one unique? Well, Epic Games and Travis Scott are going to do it inside Fortnite. That’s right, you may not be a fan of the game, but there’s no doubt that this is truly one of a kind.
Star of the Show
Let’s start with the obvious first. Who is Travis Scott? He made his official debut back in 2015 with the album Rodeo. Since then he has managed to sell more than 45 million records in the US alone. He has been nominated for a Grammy six times, including for Best Rap Song, Best Rap Performance, and Best Rap Album.
If that still doesn’t ring a bell, you may know him as Kylie Jenner’s significant other back in 2017 before they broke up in 2019.
Astronomical Event
Enough about that, let’s learn more about the event. It’s going to take place over a period of three days. That means there’s going to be multiple show dates letting you choose which schedule works for you best. Before we get into the schedule, take note that doors open 30 minutes before the show. Here are the dates and times for the show:
- April 23 @ 7:00 PM EDT
- April 24 @ 10:00 AM EDT
- April 25 @ 12:00 AM EDT
- April 25 @ 11:00 AM EDT
- April 25 @ 6:00 PM EDT
There’s a lot of pressure on this one considering that according to a report at Forbes, Fortnite’s Mashmello event last year had over 10 million people watching. With the game being free-to-play and combined with the lockdown, the upcoming event could exceed those numbers.
So how do you watch? So far it appears that you need to log-in to the game in order to watch the concert. Make sure your PC or console is also updated.
For those who don’t want to download and install the game, there’s still no word if Epic Games is going to come out with an official stream. However, you can check with your favorite Fortnite Twitch streamer to see if they’re going to be streaming the event.
Goodies
For those who want to bring something to the event, there are some goodies available. Players can get Travis Scott outfits, emotes, and more, even before the event. Those who attend the event also get the Astroworld Cyclone Glider for free. There is even more gear available to be unlocked for those who can complete Astronomical Challenges.
