Let's see what happened in Round 2. ESL One

The second round of matches for the Dota 2 ESL One Germany 2020 tournament are done and now four teams have perfect 2-0 standings. Can you guess who the four teams are? It’s not that hard, and you’ll probably get at least two of them.

The four teams are Team Secret, OG, Team Liquid, and Alliance.

Tournament

Just to give a short recap on the tournament format, the Group Stage uses a modified Swiss-system format. With 16 teams participating, there would be a lot of games if it used the round-robin format. Dividing them into their groups would probably have more games as well. With this format, there’s fewer games and more teams get to be included in the Playoffs.

Last time eight teams won, which meant, obviously, eight lost. For the second round, those who have the same standing get to have matches. You can learn more about the first round here.

Winners’ Bracket

In the first game, it was OG versus Vikin.gg. While OG dominated pretty much from the start, it took them quite a while to claim the victory; just a little above 40 minutes. However, by the second game, OG managed to finish a bit quicker. In both games Yeik “MidOne” Nai Zheng and Topias Miikka “Topson” Taavitsainen got double digits kills.

Secret, however, had none of that against Yellow Submarine. Secret finished both games at just after 20 minutes. In fact, in the first game, after Secret got the Aegis they initiated a team fight and got the best of YeS. After that, YeS probably knew they wouldn’t be able to hold out for long and just called it GG.

Meanwhile, in the Natus Vincere versus Liquid match, it was Na’Vi that had a convincing victory. Liquid bounced back in the second game and, despite efforts from Na’Vi, claimed the third game for a 2-1 victory.

In Alliance against Ninjas in Pyjamas, NiP got the victory in the first game, but that would be it for them. Alliance pretty much dominated the next two games for an easy victory.

Losers’ Bracket

In the other games of the round, Team Nigma managed to get back to form and beat out Tempo Esports 2-0. Other winners of the round are mudgolems, 5men, and Winstrike Team.

Round 3

The third round of matches is going to be on October 13-15. The games are:

  • October 13
    • EXTREMUM vs Cyber Legacy
    • mudgolems vs Team Nigma
  • October 14
    • HellRaisers vs Tempo Esports
    • Yellow Submarine vs Ninjas in Pyjamas
    • OG vs Alliance
  • October 15
    • Vikin.gg vs 5men
    • Natus Vincere vs Winstrike
    • Team Secret vs Team Liquid

What this means is that after Round 3, there are going to be two teams that will have a 3-0 standing. Care to guess who these two teams are going to be? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
