The competitive scene for Dota 2 isn't just about matches but also interesting stories. For Tour 1 of the 2023 DPC season, there's a lot going around. One of these is in Eastern Europe, specifically, BetBoom. The team is currently undefeated and at the top spot in the region, as of writing. Today, we'll take a quick look into the journey that this team has taken.

How it Started

As a team, BetBoom was formed in April 2022. They were actually composed of the former roster of the Winstrike Team. It's likely that because of this, they managed to continue the 2022 DPC season in Division I. Despite some good showing, they weren't able to earn enough points to get a direct invite to The International 2022.

However, the team did surprise many fans after winning the Eastern Europe Qualifier for TI11 by beating Virtus.pro. At TI though, the team didn't do so well and was promptly eliminated after the group stage. It goes without saying that a reorganization was coming and by November 2022, the entire roster was released.

Surprisingly, a new roster was announced a little over a month after and one way to describe it is that it's a scary team. The roster is composed of:

  • Ivan "Pure" Moskalenko (from Entity)
  • Danil "gpk" Skutin (from Virtus.pro)
  • Egor "Nightfall" Grigorenko (from Evil Geniuses)
  • Vitalie "Save-" Melnic (from Virtus.pro)
  • Alexander ""TORONTOTOKYO" Khertek (from Team Spirit)

How Is It Going

BetBoom is just showing everyone in the region why they're the team to beat. Their first match was against Virtus.pro and they pretty much dominated that one; against HellRaisers, it was the same story. Indeed, that's the trend that we've seen from BetBoom.

The team has two matches left and the last one is interesting since it's against the former team of TORONTOTOKYO. We'll finally get to see just how good TORONTOTOKYO is at Position 5 against Yaroslav "Miposhka" Naidenov of Spirit.

Region Standings

How are the other teams doing so far? Here are the current standings:

  • BetBoom Team: 5-0
  • HellRaisers: 4-1
  • Team Spirit: 4-0
  • Virtus.pro: 3-2
  • Darkside: 2-4
  • Natus Vincere: 1-4
  • One Move: 1-5
