"Marvel Rivals" players are boycotting the new pass released by the game after the recent price increase applied by NetEase Games on the in-game purchase as gamers are not happy about it.
This was an especially unpopular move from NetEase as they timed it alongside the release of the new swimsuit skins on "Marvel Rivals," which players have long requested from the developers.
'Marvel Rivals' Players Boycott New Pass
The much-awaited Season 3 of "Marvel Rivals" is now here, and alongside its release, a new "mini-pass" featuring the "Summer Party" theme dropped into the game, but it is not exactly popular amongst fans.
According to ComicBook Gaming's report, players are not happy with the latest changes made by NetEase Games and have collectively decided to boycott the new pass from the studio.
It is also important to note that NetEase Games has changed the original Battle Chest offer into the new mini-pass, which would now be the source of all special-themed content in the game.
Moreover, the new mini-pass is also a different purchase from the wider and more packed Battle Pass for the entire Season, with the mini containing only half the rewards to unlock.
According to the report, players are now calling for boycotts against the new mini-pass following the price increase from NetEase, but this means that all the swimsuit skins will not be available to them.
Other players are opting to buy the more comprehensive Battle Pass, which also offers Lattice on their purchase, making it a more sensible investment in the action-shooter PvP.
NetEase Price Increase on Mini-Pass
NetEase Games has effected a price increase on the mini-pass following its transition from the Battle Chest, and now, it is significantly more expensive by as much as 40% from the previous price.
It now costs 990 Lattice to buy the new mini-pass featuring the Summer Party skins, but this does not have perks such as the in-game currency, and it also offers fewer rewards.
While NetEase Games has yet to address the reason behind this price increase, many fans believe that it is because of the skins' popularity, which were released under the Summer Party.

While it is too early to tell if the swimsuit skins are a flop in terms of player purchases, many are already avoiding the mini-pass purchase altogether. The Summer Party skins are locked behind the mini-pass, and players would miss out on this if they choose to boycott the Summer Pass offers in-game.
The pass offers fan favorite skins for the likes of Thor, The Thing, Luna Snow, Psylocke, and Loki, with several characters getting alternate costume colors, including the Breezy Butterfly and Cool Summer designs.
Do you think this new price increase is worth the Summer mini-pass?
