Another Dota 2 team bites the dust and it's BetBoom Team this time from Eastern Europe. The team made the decision to release the entire roster. Pretty drastic considering that the team was just formed in April 2022.

While the team is indeed new, the roster actually were former members of Winstrike Team. With that experience, they actually did pretty well. In fact, they managed to secure a spot for The International 2022 by beating teams like Natus Vincere and Virtus.pro (then called Outsiders). During the big event though, they faltered big time. Out of the nine matches they had, they lost four and only managed draws in the remaining five.

There was still a chance with the tiebreaker, but they lost that one as well to BOOM Esports. Thus, they ended the group stage in last place. The only consolation was they took home about $47,000.

The members of the team that were released are:

  • Nikita “Daxak” Kuzmin
  • Denis “Larl” Sigitov
  • Evgeniy “Noticed Ignatenko
  • Vladimir “RodjER” Nikogosian
  • Akbar “SoNNeikO” Butaev

In a statement, Team Manager Luka "Lukawa" Nasuashvili admitted that while the members set themselves ambitious goals, they were unable to make it happen at TI. He added that they would like to thank the fans for the support throughout the year.

He also revealed that they're thanking BetBoom itself for forming the team. Despite the short time, they've come a long way together and have become true friends. For fans of the team, Lukawa assured everyone that “there are many more special projects within the framework of Dota in the plans.

BetBoom is just one of the many teams making changes as part of the post-TI roster shuffle. Alliance had done pretty much the same back in early October. Meanwhile, early this week, both Soniqs and SG Esports released their rosters, and you can read more about it here.

Dota 2 is available on PC.
