After two weeks of competition, Team Aster continues to have a strong showing at Tour 1 of the Dota 2 DPC 2023 in China. In five matches so far, the team has been undefeated, leading a secured spot at the upcoming Lima Major.

In the first week of competition, Aster went against Knights and Xtreme Gaming. In both those matches, the team came out on top but it wasn't easy. For those two, Aster won the first game but had to give the second to their opponents. Fortunately, they won the third game for a 2-1 series victory.

Cruising in Week 2

It was in the second week that Aster started to push away from the other teams in the region. They started with Aster.Aries and won two long games. In their match against Dawn Gaming, they didn't face much trouble ending the two games in under 25 minutes.

Their third match for the week was against EHOME and once again, Aster didn't have any trouble. Aster dominated both games and didn't give the opponent room to breathe.

A Good Move

Aster was the Chinese team that finished at the highest rank during The International 2022. They were the team that eliminated crowd favorite PSG.LGD. However, they failed in their next match against Team Liquid to settle for fourth place. Regardless, it was still a good end to the 2022 DPC Season.

In November, Zeng “Ori” Jiaoyang announced his retirement from the pro scene. This not only led Aster to sign Zhai "Xwy" Jingkai as replacement but also bring in Bai "rOtK" Fan to replace Zhang "LaNm" Zhicheng as coach.

Based on the current results, the decision to bring in Xwy was a good one.

Team Standings

Aster has two more matches remaining against Invictus Gaming and PSG.LGD. As mentioned, Aster has already qualified for Lima Major. What's left now is to determine how many DPC points the team is going to get and that depends on how the other teams perform.

Here's a peek at the current team standings in China as of writing:

  • Team Aster: 5-0
  • PSG.LGD: 4-1
  • Knights: 3-1
  • EHOME: 2-3
  • Invictus Gaming: 2-3
  • Xtreme Gaming: 2-2
  • Aster.Aries: 0-4
  • Dawn Gaming: 0-4
