Did Crytek Confirm Crysis 2 Remastered?

EA Crysis 2

It’s a good time to be a Crysis fan nowadays. It seems like another game in the sci-fi franchise is getting the remaster treatment. Crysis 2, released back in 2011, is getting remastered, or that is at least what the official Twitter account is teasing.

Remaster Teases

Crysis's Twitter account tweeted a couple of things that hint toward another remaster. The first tweet was the quote from Crysis 2, “They used to call me Prophet.” The very next day, an image from Crysis 2 was posted. This is practically a confirmation that a remaster is in the works. Crysis Remastered was also announced via tweets like these ones. However, keep in mind that there is still no actual confirmation. But if I was a betting man, a remaster is where I will place my money on.

Why Crysis 2 Needs a Remaster

Even though Crysis 2 is a decade old, it’s still a good-looking game. Though there are some areas where that need some touch-ups. Also, certain textures of Crysis 2 are downright abysmal because they look awful even if textures are set on Ultra. The game received a high definition mod, MaldoHD 4.0, that drastically improved the textures and you can download it over here.

What Can We Expect?

Crysis 2 Remastered will probably release on both past and current-gen consoles. A PC version will also be planned and it could be exclusive to Epic Games Store, just like Crysis Remastered. You can expect ray tracing support, better textures, draw distance, and more. But I won’t expect Crytek to remaster the MP as well.

A Sequel Over a Remaster

Some of the fans aren’t exactly happy about these teases. Several comments on the official tweets show their displeasure and are rather demanding a sequel instead of yet another remaster. Maybe Crytek has a sequel planned and they are releasing these remasters to first check the waters. We will find out in the future.

Still, it's confusing that Crytek will remaster Crysis 2 first instead of Crysis Warhead, a standalone expansion of the original Crysis. It was important to the original story and hasn’t been remastered yet.

So what do you think? Are you excited about Crysis Remastered? Or will you rather have a new game in the franchise? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
