Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is finally here. Serving as a soft reboot of the Modern Warfare subseries, the game is available for the PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. This latest addition to the Call of Duty series offers three main modes: a single-player campaign, the action-packed multiplayer mode, and the Special Ops mode.

In the campaign, you are thrown into an epic narrative that offers unparalleled intensity while giving a clearer picture on the changing nature of modern war. The story puts players in the role of three characters as they take part in a covert battle for the global balance of power. The three are Sgt. Kyle Garrick, CIA Agent Alex “Echo 1”, and leader of the Urzikstan Liberation Force Farah Karim. With multiple difficulty options, the campaign allows for a wide range of players from those new to the franchise (Recruit) going all the way to the seasoned experts (Veterans).

For this mode, players are given a wide range of content from free-for-all games up to tactical objectives modes. In addition, the games are played on maps that are based on locales found within the Modern Warfare universe. Players enter the multiplayer maps already complete with an ultra-customizable Loadout along with Field Upgrades. To be able to unlock the full suite of options players need to rank up their solider and continue progression into Officer Ranks. Players can also earn experience for their weapons in order to unlock Attachments and Weapon Perks.

Special Ops

Special Ops is a co-operative mode that continues the story of the Campaign through Operations. Players need to gather intel and take on missions how they see fit. Operators, Loadouts, and Progress are also carried over from multiplayer. This mode also has missions that test skills against the clock for one to four players with performance being ranked on a three-star scale.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is the first in the franchise to support cross-platform multiplayer. It has also been confirmed by publisher Activision that the usual practice of a season pass has been removed along with the loot boxes. With this, the company is able to distribute free post-launch content to all players.
