BitSummit 7 Spirits - Microsoft, Unties, And Playism Announce Games Lineup

A slew of playable independent titles are coming, with some debuting for the very first time.

We have three more publishers revealing their lineup of games for this year’s BitSummit 7 Spirits.

Following the initial announcement of the two biggest studios (Nintendo and Sony) for the Japanese indie event of the year, three more publishers announce their list of playable titles for the BitSummit 7 Spirits Event to be held in Kyoto on June 1 and June 2. The event will be held in the Kyoto International Exhibition Hall Miyako Messe and is set to feature a huge lineup of industry leaders, developers, publishers, and even musicians, as the Kyoto yearly event is known as the go-to place for all indie titles.

Without further ado, here are three more publishers set to debut their titles at the upcoming BitSummit 7 Spirits event.

Unties

Unties is a Japanese independent video game publisher that is quite the big name in their home country. Most of what they’ll be bringing are upcoming games, with a clear focus on building a library on the Nintendo Switch. They will present 13 playable games at the event, including:

  • Battlloon (Switch, PC) by Noname Studio
  • Giraffe and Annika (PS4, Switch, PC) by Atelier Mimina
  • Gensou SkyDrift (PS4, Switch, PC) by IlluCalab
  • Keen (PS4, Xbox One, Switch, PC) by Cat Nigri
  • Keotoshi! Treasure Hunter (Switch) by Winglay
  • Marchen Forest: Mylne and the Forsest Gift Complete Edition (PS4, Switch) by Primary Orbit
  • Olija (PS4, Xbox One, Switch, PC) by Skeleton Crew Studio)
  • Tokyo Dark: Remembrance (PS4, Switch) by Cherrymochi
  • Touhou Luna Nights (PC, TBA for other platforms) by Team Ladybug
  • The Tower of Permanence (PS4, Switch, PC) by //commentout
  • Unreal Life (Switch, PC) by Hako Seikatsu
  • Wing of Darkness (PS4, PC) by Production Exabilities

Playism

Playism is a digital distribution platform, much like Steam, but operating entirely to publish independent titles. There are some real gems to be found on that platform, if you’re truly looking for some independent work. Check out their store here. As for what they’ll be showing at the event, you can expect the following games to be in attendance.

  • Everything (PS4, Switch, Steam, Playism) by David O’Reilly
  • Necobarista (Steam, Playism) by Route 59
  • Orangeblood (Steam, Playism) by Grayfax Software
  • Outrider Mako (Steam, Playism) by Asmado Games
  • Pixel Game Maker MV (Steam) by Kadokawa Corporation
  • Kumacure, a title developed in Pixel Game Maker MV by Dot Zo Games
  • Steel Sword Story, a title developed in Pixel Game Maker MV by 8bits Fanatics
  • Remix Game Jam Winners Hex Hunter and Explorer Thief will also be available to play at the event

Microsoft

Microsoft is also bringing their own lineup of independent games for BitSummit 7 Sprits. The tech giant has since released a list of Xbox and PC titles that will be playable at the event.

  • Asdivine Hearts (Xbox One, Windows 10) by EXE-Create and Kemco
  • Fuga (Xbox One) by CyberConnect2
  • The Good Life (Xbox One) by White Owls and Grounding
  • La-Mulana 2 (Xbox One, Windows 10) by Nigoro and Playism
  • Sally’s Law (Xbox One) by Nanali Studios and Polaris-X
  • Vambrace: Cold Soul (Xbox One) by Devespresso Games and Chorus Worldwide
