You Can No Longer Access the Demo for Amnesia: The Bunker Starting Today

No more freebies! Frictional Games

When a game is released, it's usually good practice to continue giving players access to the demo because it's one way of knowing if they like it or not. But Frictional Games went the other way for the demo of Amnesia: The Bunker, to be deactivated starting today, June 13.

In a post, the studio revealed that the demo no longer represents the entire game experience. Plus, the demo continues to have issues that the studio doesn't have the resources or time to support. With these reasons, it was indeed a good decision to end the demo access. After all, the possibility of disappointing players would be high.

Amnesia: The Bunker was released on June 6 and comes from the same studio that made SOMA and Amnesia. In this first-person horror game, players take on the role of the French soldier Henri Clément and will find themselves in a desolate WW1 bunker armed with a revolver gun with only one bullet left in the barrel. They also have a noisy dynamo flashlight and other supplies which can be scavenged and crafted along the way.

Hunted by an ever-present threat, players must be alert to every move and sound of whatever is lurking in the darkness. They'll need to adapt their playstyle if they're to face hell. Every decision is directly linked to how the game responds, and actions bear consequences. Considering the randomization and unpredictable behavior, it's more than guaranteed that each playthrough is unique.

Features of the game include:

  • Dynamic and ever-present monster that reacts to player actions.
  • Constant tension - Time is not on your side.
  • Tactile and physics-based interactions with the world.
  • Scavenge for resources and craft tools to aid your survival.
  • Multiple solutions to problem solving in a non-linear open world.
