The Rebirth expansion for Surviving the Aftermath is finally here, giving players the ability to modify and revitalize the environment through terraforming. It's available on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One for $14.99.

In Surviving the Aftermath, humankind has survived an apocalyptic event and now must move forward to reclaim the planet. However, the new expansion brings a new obstacle which lies in the path humanity has taken and threatens the world of the colonists.

Known as the Blight, it's a fungal infestation caused by radioactive contamination. To survive, players need to use advanced facilities while doing what they can to modify the surroundings through terraforming.

From Threat to Resource

The new infestation in the Blight is a result of decades of being exposed to radioactive pollution. The mutated fungi have infected the animals which made them aggressive and dangerous. This infection has started to spread across the wasteland and is threatening to take over.

To defend against the threat, players need to find a cure for the Blight. Start by gathering Blight samples and study them in a new research building. Any new discoveries will give players access to new buildings, resources, and upgrades.

Turn the Wasteland to Green Pastures

The Terraformer allows players to turn barren land to fertile soil and welcome new life. The more they terraform, the more their map turns green and lush with both vegetation and animals.

A word of advice though, be careful when terraforming blighted areas. That’s because it’s where Blight monsters spawn and attack survivors.

New Buildings and Upgrades

The new expansion introduces three new buildings and the new multi-stage Blight lab with its Research tree. There are also three new building updates.

There’s the Purification post, for instance, which lets players remove those small pollution deposits. With the new expansion, it’s now upgraded to an Extermination post which can help clear blighted nests, hives, and lairs.

Meanwhile, the Basic Terraformer, which turns the land to terraformed soil, can now be upgraded to Advanced Terraformer.

Finally, the Environmental Station becomes the Hazmat station. This upgraded building allows survivors to clear blight cores as well as stop the attack of creatures.
