Paradox Interactive’s 4x strategy game Stellaris will be graced with its first story pack, titled “Leviathans.” Check out the “Leviathans” reveal trailer below:

The new “Leviathans” story pack features a ton of new content that sheds a light on “rich systems defended by fierce creatures, hostile pockets of resistance to your civilization, and the sleeping giants of the universe – the Fallen Empires who may yet be stirred from their centuries long indolence,” according to the story pack’s reveal post.

Check out some features from “Leviathans” below:

  • Guardians: Powerful space entities with mysterious origins and motives. Fight or investigate them to unlock technologies and gain access to great treasures.

  • Enclaves: Independent outposts of traders and artists who are willing to make a deal. Exchange resources, purchase information about the galaxy, or commission a great work of art for your empire.

  • War in Heaven: Where will your fledgling empire lie if two ancient Fallen Empires decide to renew old grievances in a War in Heaven? Will you err on the side of caution and take a side with the stronger power, or will you strike at both whilst they are occupied with their own titanic struggle?

Guardians are stationary societies who defend a single point in their galaxy with massive defensive structures. You can try and seize whatever secrets they’ve got, but you might risk awakening Cthulhu and incinerating your fleet. The Enclaves function as neutral, mercenary factions for hire. And Wars in Heaven could mean big opportunities for you as two somnolent Fallen Empires go wakey wakey, depending how you play your cards.

Alongside the release of “Leviathans” will be the traditional free update, this time called “Heinlein,” which contains improvements for all players. Heinlein patch 1.3 highlights include:

  • A convenient Auto-Explore feature.

  • Rally points for your freshly-assembled Navy.

  • The Expansion Planner Interface.

  • An overhaul of Strategic Resources.

  • Clearer specialization/role for ship types.

  • More options for customizing new galaxies.

  • New smarter Sector Governors.

Leviathans” will be available on Oct. 20 for $9.99. Will you be picking up the latest Stellaris DLC? Feel free to talk Stellaris in our comments section below.
