The new immersive sandbox detective sim Shadows of Doubt is now available on Steam Early Access. This game allows players to become a private detective solving robberies and murder cases. There's currently a 10% off introductory price until May 2.
For the early access version, players can enjoy "The Dead of Night," a specially crafted case which introduces players to the game. There's also a Sandbox Mode that features an endless number of cases for players to investigate and civilians to meet. A wide range of equipment is available and procedurally-generated cities to explore.
In a statement, ColePowered Games Founder and Director Cole Jefferies shared that he's excited to finally invite players to the game world. He revealed that this game has been his dream and it's an incredible feeling to finally see it in the hands of players. He went on to say that he is looking forward to more content as they work to the game's full release.
Shadows of Doubt is set in an alternate reality of the hyper-industrialized 1980s. Think like a detective and use different gadgets as a private intelligence investigator, and gather evidence and make money by solving cases or find and sell information.
Game features include:
- Become a private investigator and track down a serial killer in a fully simulated sci-fi city.
- Meet individual citizens, each with their own name, job, apartment, and daily routine, in unique, procedurally-generated cities.
- Take on new cases to earn cash, purchase new gadgets and equipment, and customize the apartment.
- Gather evidence to build the case:
- Scan fingerprints.
- Check call histories.
- Read private emails.
- Watch CCTV.
- Find key pieces of evidence to gather information.
- Play your own way:
- Pick locks.
- Break down doors.
- Sabotage security systems.
- Bribe citizens for information or stick to the law and play by the book.
- Explore every room in every building and talk to every citizen.
