During the Six Invitational, Ubisoft announced that Rainbow Six Siege will be getting an Arcade mode. Arcade mode is basically a series of smaller events that will stay in the game for a couple of days. They won’t be as big as main events and will only tweak a few things in the gameplay.

The first of the new Arcade modes, called the Golden Gun mode, is finally here. The mode is inspired by the classic game mode in GoldenEye 007. You have access to one gun which has only one bullet in the chamber. The gun will reload every time you shoot, so be careful with your shots.

Every single shot in the game is a sure kill. It doesn’t matter if you shoot someone in the head or the leg. Your enemy will die if you hit them. Be careful, because this work the other way round as well. The gun will also open any hatches, barricades, and windows with one single shot so you can also run around the map really quickly. On top of that, the gunshot will also make quite a large bullet hole when shot at a soft wall.

After giving it a go, I can confidently say that Golden Gun mode is fun as hell. However, there are few things that Ubisoft could have done to improve it even further. Right now, the mode can only be played on the reworked Oregon map. More maps, especially the smaller ones like House and Plane, would have been nice. Many players are just knifing enemies after missing their first shots, so the ability should have been disabled. Developers should also have removed operator gadgets. During my gameplay, I saw some players using Echo drone to disorient players. All of this takes away from the whole point of the Golden Gun mode.

The Arcade mode acts as a break from a sweaty session of ranked. It doesn’t overstay its welcome and makes the overall game more interesting. We had a lot of fun playing this mode and hope that other planned events are also like this.

So what do you think? Are you interested in the Golden Gun mode? Or will you stick the Ranked? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
