Ubisoft announced its Rainbow Six Siege free weekend for first-time players from Feb. 2 through 5. Unfortunately, the promotion that was meant to welcome new players likely also caused a spike that crippled the Ubisoft servers as well. Players across PS4, Xbox One and PC have reported extended downtime.

Clearly, Ubisoft is aware of the outages affecting its game servers. On Friday, Ubisoft addressed the issues:

"We are working to resolve the issue with logging in to our online services as quickly as possible; thank you for your patience through this."

While Ubisoft managed to promptly bring the servers back on Friday evening, it's clear that the servers will continue to be strained throughout the Free Weekend. We definitely recommend gamers hoping to play Saturday or Sunday evening to definitely check Ubisoft Support periodically to monitor the status of the servers.
