A new Quake Champions trailer moves the spotlight to Galena, the Unholy Paladin, to give players a closer look at what could become one of the most irritating champions on the roster. Id Software also published Galena’s ability descriptions, for those of us who haven’t been fortunate enough to receive invites to the Quake Champions closed beta.

We’ve already seen previews of Anarki, Clutch, Nyx and several other fighters. This week, Galena joins the list of Quake Champions combatants to feature in their own trailer. Given the mixed reactions to QC ’s skill system, we’d imagine Galena will be one of the more polarizing additions to the roster. She’s the first we’ve encountered with a unique area of effect skill and her ability to heal allies and damage enemies simultaneously is bound to make Galena unpopular with some Quake Champions players. She’ll certainly make an impact on the battlefield though.

Here’s the lowdown on Galena’s abilities, via id Software:

ACTIVE ABILITY – UNHOLY TOTEM

  • In the heat of combat, throw down Galena’s Unholy Totem to heal both yourself and your allies, or cause devastating damage to your foes. Deadly in Deathmatch, and a critical tool in team games to help control pathways and power-ups, the Unholy Totem is a vital weapon in Galena’s wicked arsenal.

PASSIVE ABILITY – CHANNELING

  • Want to get that Unholy Totem back even faster? Galena’s passive ability, Channeling, allows her to eliminate 5% of her active ability cooldown timer every time she picks up a health bubble.

For more on Galena, take a minute to check out the latest Quake Champions trailer from id Software and Bethesda. Then head down to the comments section and let us know if you’re still hoping to get an invite for the next round of Quake Champions beta testing.

Quake Champions is in development for PC. The next closed beta weekend is scheduled to begin Thursday, April 20.
