We finally have a launch date for the upcoming Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet. It's going to be released on November 18 and as previously announced, exclusive to Nintendo Switch. If you're excited about these games, digital pre-orders are now available on the Nintendo eShop.

In addition to the release date revelation, the Pokémon Company also revealed that the retail version of the two games will feature the Legendary Pokémon Koraidon and Miraidon on each cover. Meanwhile, the title logos are embellished with foil stamp-like designs and use these Legendary Pokémon as motifs. The packages of the games have a look similar to the covers of old books to bring about the feeling of the new story.

These games will be the first open-world RPGs in the Pokémon series. It goes without saying that the series staples are still there, like trading and battling Pokémon. But players can also explore different locations with up to four individuals.

New Characters

The upcoming titles introduce new characters and for the first time, one of two different professors appears in the game depending on which version is chosen. In Pokémon Scarlet, players get to meet Professor Sada while in Pokémon Violet, it's going to be Professor Turo. Each professor is carrying out research into lore passed down in the region.

Another new character is Nemona, she's an experienced Pokémon Trainer who's passionate about Pokémon battles and serves as a friend and reliable guide to the protagonist.
