Mysterious balloons have been popping up in the sky in Pokémon Go. It’s obvious that Team Go Rocket is behind this and it looks like an invasion. Trainers need to prepare as this means they can now battle Team Go Rocket anywhere on the map. Don’t forget to keep a sharp lookout on who’s piloting these balloons, as some players may get the chance to go against none other than Giovanni himself.

It all started last week when Professor Willow informed the team leaders that he found some scraps of paper while training for the Pokémon Go Fest weekly challenges. It was later found out that Team Go Rocket was flying across the world and it’s now up to the Trainers to defeat as many of them as they can.

There are three key things to remember for this event. The first is that Trainers need to tap a balloon to battle Team Go Rocket. That’s all you need to do. Once you tap a balloon, it’s time choose your battle party and defeat the Team Go Rocket member in order to rescue their Shadow Pokémon. The balloons are going to hover near Trainers for a limited time. Don’t take too long to decide if you want to battle or not since the balloons have a tendency to fly away.

Another way to go about it is to equip your Rocket Rader to encounter balloons with Team Go Rocket Leaders. Trainers who have a Rocket Rader equipped can find Sierra, Cliff, or Arlo piloting a Team Go Rocket balloon. Finally, for those up to the task, Team Go Rocket’s boss can be found riding in a balloon. Just equip and activate your Super Rocket Rader to encounter Giovanni.

Weekly Challenges

For Trainers wanting to test how proficient they are, there’s still time to take the Skills Challenge, which ends today at 10:00 PM (local time). After that the next challenge starts on Friday, July 10. You can learn more about the challenges here.

There’s total of three challenges that are going to lead to the first-ever online Pokémon Go Fest 2020. You can read more about this upcoming annual event here.
