The Pokémon GO Tour: Johto is all set to start this weekend. There’s a lot to be excited about, whether you have the free event or the ticketed experience. Today, we’ll discuss a few things to keep in mind to enjoy this big event.

Let’s start with ticket holders. If you’re one of them, here’s what you need to know:

  • Version selection
    • This starts after choosing either the Gold Version or the Silver Version of the event.
  • Collection Challenges
    • Once you start the event, you’ll get access to 10 Collection Challenges, which remain until the event ends.
  • Special Research
    • When you start the Johto Tour, be sure to tap on the Special Research icon after Professor Willow appears. Do this to claim the new Special Research.
    • It can be completed at any time during or after the event.
  • Masterwork Research
    • After finishing the event’s Special Research, you’ll get access to new Masterwork Research. This is designed to be completed over a long period of time.
    • Completing this set of research results in an encounter with Apex Shadow Lugia and Apex Shadow Ho-Oh.
  • Free items
    • A free item bundle that has three Remote Raid Passes is available in the shop. Claim it to get that needed boost.
  • Extra daily Raid Passes
    • Claim as many as nine daily Raid Passes during event hours by spinning Photo Discs at Gyms.
  • Incense
    • Incense attracts version-exclusive Pokémon during the event.
  • Social media
    • Share photos on Twitter or Instagram using #PokemonGOTour.
    • If you’re lucky, you may see them featured in-game during the event.
  • Stickers
    • Special stickers available from PokéStops and Gifts.

If you don’t have a ticket, don't worry. It’s still possible to experience these during the event:

  • Winners of the #PokemonGOTourContest will appear as GO Gym Trainers during the event. Find and battle them at PokéStops to complete event-exclusive Timed Research and earn rewards.
  • Evolve certain Pokémon during the event to get a Pokémon that knows a featured attack.
