Pokémon GO Having Real-World GO Fest 2021 Celebrations in Select Cities

A pleasant surprise.
A pleasant surprise. Niantic

The GO Fest 2021 is all set to be held on July 17 and 18. Like last year, it’s going to be mainly done online to allow many trainers to join. However, some cities are lucky enough to be chosen as venues for real-world celebrations of Pokémon GO’s biggest annual event.

The in-game experience is pretty much the same except that those who can attend real-world celebrations can enjoy photo op. However, it’s only available on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. local time. The Pokémon GO team reminded trainers who can attend these in-person celebrations to follow local guidelines or policies.

So where are these celebrations happening? Here are the 10 cities chosen in the US:

  • San Francisco, CA
  • Denver, CO
  • Atlanta, GA
  • Chicago, IL
  • Indianapolis, IN
  • New York City, NY
  • Nashville, TN
  • Austin, TX
  • Seattle, WA
  • Washington, D.C.

There are also two other regions selected. One is Auckland in New Zealand, which is under the Asia Pacific region. For Europe, the cities are:

  • Linz, AT
  • Dresden, DE
  • Essen, DE
  • Hamburg, DE
  • Sevilla, ES
  • Paris, FR
  • Warsaw, PL
  • Bristol, UK
  • Edinburgh, UK
  • Liverpool, UK
  • London, UK

To those who want to join the celebrations in any of the cities mentioned, they need to register through the Events section in the app or through this link. While registration is free, the spots available for each city are limited. The spots are on a first-come, first-served basis.

GO Fest 2021

The GO Fest 2021 is extra special with the fifth anniversary of Pokémon GO. The two-day event is divided into “Catch!” for the first day and “Raid!” for the second. For this year, there are features offered to all trainers, ticket-holder or not. These include:

  • Trainer photos are going to be featured in the Today View.
  • Trainers can share their photos with the hashtag #PokemonGOFest2021 for a chance to have them featured.
  • All Lure Modules activated during event hours last for three hours.
  • Special music created by Pokémon music producer Junichi Masuda will be playing in the app throughout the event.
  • 1/2 Hatch Distance when Eggs are placed in an Incubator during event hours.
  • Pokémon hatching from 7-kilometer eggs includes Igglybuff, Chingling, and Audino.
  • Event-exclusive Field Research tasks and special on-map visual effects, among others.
