Overwatch 2: Junker Queen Got Tankier in Latest Update

The mid-season balancing patch for Overwatch 2 is now available on all platforms. This update brought some buffs to Junker Queen, which might make her worth taking in the current meta. Why? Because she got a bit tankier now!

For the Love of Tanks

So, what has changed? Her Adrenaline Rush passive got a huge buff in that it now heals her for the remaining wound damage when an enemy dies with wounds on them. This means that even if the affected target dies, she will still get the maximum benefit of the passive.

If you don’t know how amazing this change is, just look at her Carnage ability. Carnage inflicts wounds to enemies hit by her giant axe and she gets healed 50 HP over three seconds thanks to Adrenaline Rush. That 50 HP heal is now consistent and no longer ends when the wounded enemy dies.

Speaking of Carnage, its cooldown is now reduced by two seconds for each enemy hit. While the ability itself only allows you to whack opponents for eight seconds, this adjustment enables you to keep using Carnage indefinitely, so long as you’re able to hit enemy heroes. This also reinforces her role as a tank, getting into the thick of battle and meleeing anyone who gets close to her from the opposing team.

How about Jagged Blade? Well, it has been rebalanced in the latest Overwatch 2 update. The impact damage has been reduced from 80 to 50. However, enemies hit by the impact now get a 30-damage wound inflicted upon them. What this implies is that while the initial burst is slightly nerfed, it is compensated by the new damage over time via wounds.

This update seems to love tanks a lot more than the other roles in the game. In addition to Junker Queen, Zarya got buffed as well. Her Energy passive’s degeneration rate is reduced to just two (from 2.2), meaning she now loses slightly less energy per second. Furthermore, the delay before energy degeneration begins after gaining energy is increased from one second to two seconds. As a result, Zarya is now able to hold onto the energy she’s gained a bit longer, which is pretty useful between fights.

Support Heroes Not Neglected

A couple of support heroes received some love as well. Brigitte’s Barrier Shield got a slight health increase from 250 to 300. On top of that, Moira’s Biotic Orb now restores a small amount of Biotic Energy when it damages enemies.

So, what can you say about the latest Junker Queen buffs?

Overwatch 2 is available on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
