A new Nioh 2 story trailer was revealed today and it has given us the basic idea of what to expect from the sequel. The developers were kind enough to reveal even more information about the game, its world, and its characters. The new story trailer can be watched below.

Nioh 2 is set in the wartorn era of Feudal Japan and takes place in the mid-16th century. Story-wise, it acts as a prequel to the first Nioh. Players create their character this time around, who has lost their yokai spirit. You will be able to collect “Soul Cores” by killing enemy yokai, and you can earn new abilities after delivering those “Soul Cores” to the shrine. You will also have access to different types of weapons like Odachi and Kusarigama.

Three expansion packs have already been announced in advance. Each one tells a different story and pre-dates the main game. The expansions are all included in the Season Pass, which itself is a part of the Digital Deluxe Edition for Nioh 2. The Deluxe Edition also comes with the Demon Horde armor set and a Kodama Netsuke Charm. Nioh 2's developers have told us to expect “hours of additional gameplay” with plenty of challenges and both multiple main and sub-missions. Nioh 2 also supports three-player cooperative multiplayer, but if co-op is not for you, you can play the game solo and summon up-to two AI-controlled allies that will assist you in battle.
