The Switch 2 is only days away from its release, and Nintendo has shared a new critical warning for all future owners of the successor gaming device to keep one essential object after unboxing the console. The Japanese gaming company revealed that all Switch 2 devices would have a type of film on its screen that comes as a standard, with the company now issuing a warning not to remove it.

Most digital devices with screens have a pre-installed film to protect the screen when shipping out to customers, and while some are meant to be removed, Switch 2's film apparently is meant to stay.

Nintendo Issues a Warning on Switch 2's Screen Film

The Nintendo Switch 2 instruction manual (via Nintendo Soup's report) details the many exact specifications of the console, but there is one eye-catching warning from the company. This is because there is a protective screen film found on the Switch 2 right out of the box, and Nintendo wants users not to remove it at all.

Nintendo explains in the instruction manual that the Switch 2 comes with a type of screen protector that focuses on user safety instead of protecting the console's display from scratches and other damage. The original Nintendo Switch is known for receiving a special third-party accessory of tempered glass or screen protectors that shield the screen from scratches or cracks when dropping it.

However, the Switch 2 is different, particularly as Nintendo's display for the device comes with an "anti-scattering adhesive film" which is meant to protect users from any potential harm that may come.

It was highlighted by the report that this special film is not meant to shield the screen from accidental scratches inside the box, and users should keep it intact even after opening the device.

Do Not Remove This Protective Screen Film

The purpose of this anti-scattering adhesive film is to keep all the glass shards of the device's display from breaking up and dispersing to different surfaces, especially straight to one's eyes. In the rare event that the screen gets damaged, the protective screen film will keep all of the shards intact and contained behind it, and it would help avoid the need to clean up after.

Nintendo's instruction manual made it clear that this specific film is not a packaging material, but a safety feature that aims to prevent any injuries or unwanted incidents from taking place, especially when playing on the Switch 2.

It remains unknown if removing the film may bring any adverse effects to the Switch 2 screen's integrity, so it is best to keep the film where it is upon receiving the successor console. According to CNET, it has been a norm in the tech industry to put packaging films on top of displays to avoid them getting damaged during shipping, and users have become accustomed to removing them from their devices.

With this, users and creators who tend to do ASMR unboxing of the Switch 2 have one less peeling to do after taking the console out of the box.
