Steam is reportedly planning to add a new feature to its marketplace platform, which will present a game's price history on its listing page to show customers the changes made it in the past 30 days.

According to LambdaGeneration via X, a code discovered by a dataminer called @SigaTbh (via SteamDB's website) reveals that Steam may be planning to add a game's price history to the platform.
Per the claim, this new price history tracker will show a title's changes in pricing for the past 30 days, giving players a chance to review the alterations to it.
It was added by LambdaGeneration that this feature has already been available to the Steam platform in the EU region since 2023 as this was mandated by the European Commission under the Omnibus Directive (via CNET).
With this latest discovery on the SteamDB platform, it was speculated that the price history feature may be made available to all regions where Steam is available.

According to a user who shared on X, this feature may also deter publishers who make it appear as if their game is on sale but have jacked the price days or weeks before they reflect the discount.
This means that the feature may also help with transparency and protect customers from deceptive tactics by some publishers.
That said, Steam has yet to officially confirm if this feature will arrive to its global operations.
