Next Major Assassin’s Creed Game Will Release on 2022 – Rumor

The Assassin’s Creed franchise may not have a rigid release schedule of at least one game a year like Call of Duty. But there is no denying that the successful series gets more and more sequels. The latest release of the Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla marks the 12th major installment of the long-running franchise.

So, when can we expect the 13th major installment? Not this year, if the latest rumors are to be believed. While the AC franchise has released one major title annually, there have been some outliers. There was a two-year gap for Assassin’s Creed: Origins and Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla.

According to YouTuber xj0nathan, the next major Assassin’s Creed game will come out in 2022. This year, Ubisoft will focus on improving Valhalla and the release of two separate expansion packs for the game. The same YouTuber further claimed that the 2022’s AC is being developed by Ubisoft Sofia.

Ubisoft Sofia in Bulgaria has previously worked on Assassin’s Creed Rogue. The game was technically a major installment, but it felt more like a spin-off of the much successful predecessor Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag.

While all these are just rumors, there is still no denying that a 2022 release for the next AC looks reasonable. This is because the Assassin’s Creed: Odyssey, released just a year after Origins, felt like a big step down. Maybe Ubisoft wants to give each installment some breathing room. Rumors also suggest that the next game will be a true next-gen title. If true, don't expect releases for Xbox One and PlayStation 4.

There are tons of things that Ubisoft can do with the next Assassin’s Creed game. While I do like some RPG elements in AC, I won’t be mad if the sequel returned to its root. I and many other fans want a more grounded AC where stealth is key, like in the Ezio trilogy. If the next game is set in feudal Japan, then it’s going to be an instant buy for me.
