A new module brings with it a new class. Perfect World

It looks like a little rest for adventurers as the new module for Neverwinter is launching on PC on July 27. Jewel of the North sees the game going back to its roots with the introduction of the Bard class. There are some big quality-of-life improvements as well as the leveling system is streamlined. For those wondering, the version for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One is arriving in fall 2021.

In a statement, Neverwinter Executive Producer Matt Powers shared that the new module hopes to make it even easier for players to create their character. He added that the streamlining of the leveling experience is to make the game more aligned with the tabletop experience.

New Class

Those familiar with Dungeons & Dragons know that the Bard class was introduced during the second edition, as a standard class. Contrary to what most people know, the Bard is a multi-skilled hero. They can use music to inspire their allies and can even weave magic into their swords. They also have the power to heal wounds and manipulate minds.

In Jewel of the North, players get to choose from one of two Paragon Paths. The first is the Minstrel, which is a ranged-casting master musician. The second is the Songblade, a close-range damage-dealing character. Regardless of which one is chosen, the Bard class offers unique abilities that are typically based on the power of music.

Leveling System

For starters, the max level cap is changed from level 80 to level 20. This is to allow new, as well as returning, players to reach epic-level content in a shorter time. Veteran players, meanwhile, can level up their alternate characters faster.

Those who are mid-way through their leveling will be boosted to level 20. Those who already have characters at max level still retain the same stats and item power levels. The only difference is the character level will be set to 20.

In addition to the new class and improvement to the leveling system, expect extras like game performance improvements, revamp of the in-game tutorial, and new Adventures system.

Neverwinter is a free-to-play action MMORPG that features fast-paced combat. The game is available on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
