Netflix Games has officially debuted "Red Dead Redemption" for mobile as part of their scheduled delivery of the iconic Western-style AAA-rated title from Rockstar Games for all subscribers.
Netflix Debuts 'Red Dead Redemption' For Mobile Phones
The release of the mobile version of Rockstar Games' "Red Dead Redemption" marks the first time that the game is coming to mobile devices like smartphones and tablets. It has been 15 years since Rockstar Games released "Red Dead Redemption" and followed it up with a sequel in 2018 with "Red Dead Redemption 2."
Both games were previously only available on consoles first before they became available on PCs.
With this Netflix release, "Red Dead Redemption" is available for both iOS and Android platforms, which makes it widely accessible for all fans.
That said, there is one huge requirement for fans and gamers to play "Red Dead Redemption" on mobile, and that is an active Netflix subscription, which is not that strict on tiers.
Users could be on the basic, ad-supported tier and still get the chance to download and play "RDR" on their mobile devices as long as they are paying and have not yet canceled their subscriptions.
Netflix's "Red Dead Redemption" mobile port also offers the standalone expansion content called "Undead Nightmares," which transforms the game into a zombie-fied experience, set in the Wild West.
Netflix's 'RDR' Is Complete with Touch Optimization
Get ready to play as John Marston on mobile, complete with all the touch-screen controls and mobile-friendly optimization that Netflix has worked on for this port of the game.
While it remains free for users who have Netflix subscriptions, they are still required to exit the mobile app to download and install the game via the Apple App Store and the Google Play Store.
Additionally, the game requires an internet connection to play. It is also important to note that the game's famed multiplayer mode is not available in this Netflix mobile port.
Alongside this Netflix mobile release, Rockstar Games also took this time to release "Red Dead Redemption's" next-generation version enhancements, which allow users to experience it better on modern platforms. This enhanced version is available now on the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series S and X, and the Nintendo Switch 2.
Rockstar Games said that only the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch 1 are getting the free digital upgrades for the game.
