In a few days’ time, everyone with a passion for gaming will have their attention turned to the Koelmnesse in Germany as the 2019 iteration of Gamescom begins. Kicking things off this Monday, August 19, is Opening Night Live, a grand presentation featuring a ton of different publishers and developers as they showcase their latest projects to players in attendance and around the world. The event is hosted by Geoff Keighley, and folks should expect a ton of announcements about new and upcoming releases for titles across all platforms.

Of course, that’s only the beginning of Gamescom, as throughout the whole week there will be a lot of surprises in store for everyone. For instance, TaleWorlds will once again bring their highly-anticipated Bannerlord to the event, and for the first time ever it will be available to both members of the press and the public.

While the announcement was made a few months ago, TaleWorlds has detailed more information with regards to Bannerlord at Gamescom. This includes what attendees can expect with regards to the game’s playable demo at the event. For starters, the build will feature three premade characters, the same as what was shown at last year’s Gamescom. Those same characters will now be ten years into their own respective journeys, which puts players in the midst of the game’s campaign. This change, of course, translates to an emphasis on large-scale epic battles and sieges that made Mount & Blade a must-play. The sandbox will still allow players to go with their own unique play style and pursue paths exclusive to their choices.

Also coming to Gamescom is the mode announced a few months ago: the Captain mode. This is a team-based PVP game mode that pits players and AI troops in their command against other players. The new mode is one of the many multiplayer modes that players will see in Bannerlord, and should offer a nice dynamic to the game’s incredibly expansive single-player campaigns.

Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord will be released on PC at a yet to be announced date.
