Microsoft recently announced a brand-new Halo tournament which is open to all players. The Halo: MCC Pro Series is an online tournament held on FACEIT. FACEIT is offering weekly tournaments with cash payouts and can be played whether you are a professional player or an amateur.

“We hope that this tournament series will help restore even a small sliver of normalcy for Halo fans and competitors and that everyone and their loved ones are safe and healthy while we all stay home to slow the spread of the COVID-19 virus,” Microsoft stated on the official Halo Waypoint website.

Microsoft plans on starting the esports series with Halo 2: Anniversary on May 23 followed by other titles in the immediate future. Their latest event was the Halo World Championship held back in 2018. Ever since that event, Microsoft has begun experimenting on different formats to perfect their plans for the Halo: MCC Pro Series. This news will be really exciting for the professional players who have been missing out on the competition for a long time.

FACEIT’s format will be split into two parts. The first phase is the open tournament, which determines who makes it to the next step. The second phase is a 16-team pro tournament, where a winner is eventually crowned. The top eight teams from the open tournament will join with the top eight pro groups from DreamHack Anaheim, which was the most recent major held on February 21. The prize pool for this tournament will total up to $5,500 for both brackets. We can expect to see more tournaments in the near future with bigger prize pools.

You can register for the tournament on FACEIT for free. If you haven’t played Halo yet, this is a good time to grab Halo: The Master Chief Collection on Steam for only $39.99. All the matches from the Halo: MCC Pro Series competition will be streamed on Halo’s streaming channels such as Twitch and Facebook.

So, what are your thoughts on the upcoming Halo tournament? Do you think Microsoft will announce more exciting news soon? Whatever your thoughts may be, let us know in the comments below.
