Magic: Legends is starting its Open Beta on March 23. This is going to be limited for the PC, though the official game is also releasing on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

The game already had a Closed Alpha, which had around 100,000 testers. Even before the Open Beta, there’s going to be another Closed Alpha test. Those who want the chance to get an invite can sign up here. That’s the same link that you need if you want to join the Open Beta.

If you’re familiar with Magic: The Gathering, then you have an idea of how the game works. The difference is it’s not your typical online digital collectible card game like Hearthstone. It’s also presented as an action RPG with deck-building elements. You can watch the trailer below to get a better idea of what the game has to offer:

Much like the collectible card game version, players take on the role of a Planeswalker. There are ancient forces that are gathering and it’s up to the players to go through the Magic Multiverse and get the needed power to stop this evil. There are different paths to choose from and unique spells to collect.

The different regions that players can go through include:

  • Shiv
    • A volcanic island located in Dominaria.
    • It’s inhabited by creatures like goblins, ogres, and even dragons.
  • Benalia
    • This church-state is located on Dominaria.
    • It’s an area where the plains meet the dark swamps.
    • The people of Benalia remain to be at war with the Cabal fanatics and their demons.
  • Tolaria
    • A tropical academy in Dominaria.
    • It’s home to aspiring wizards, artifact constructs, and Homarid beasts.
  • Tazeem
    • A jungle continent located on Zendikar.
    • It’s inhabited by different wild creatures that include merfolk and elves.
  • Gavony
    • A province located on Innistrad.
    • There are settlements and townsfolk constantly under attack by undead and werewolves.

On the role of Planeswalkers, these are the different classes:

  • Beastcaller (Green)
  • Geomancer (Red)
  • Mind Mage (Blue)
  • Necromancer (Black)
  • Sanctifier (White)

Magic: Legends was first revealed back in December 2019. The game is being developed by Cryptic Studios and is expected to launch later this year.
