Sometimes the biggest of leaks can come from the most innocuous places.
With E3 just around the corner, we find ourselves always on the verge of new and exciting rumors, leaks and various speculation. Most of these leaks are from unnamed sources that are often actual insiders, sometimes they come from mundane things like ratings boards, or even mistakes that retailers make while preparing product pages.
This was certainly the case with what is being reported as a new title in the Red Faction series. Thanks to a very trained set of eyes of a poster on Metacouncil, we now know that this possible title is called Red Faction Evolution. Check out the screenshot below and try and guess where it came from.
This potentially big leak comes from a listing of Nvidia’s Ansel-supported titles. You know, that list you check every once in a while, to see if you can take epic 360-degree screenshots with a very pretty game? In a list containing Rage 2, Redout, Rift, Risk of Rain 2 and Rise of the Tomb Raider also sits Red Faction Evolution. Just like that.
The Red Faction series is under the THQ Nordic banner, with its notable developer being Volition, the studio behind Saints Row. The last Red Faction game was released back in 2018, which was Red Faction Guerilla Re-Mars-tered. If this leak is somehow true, then it’s good news for Volition overall, seeing as their last title, Agents of Mayhem, was not that well-received. I’d also be a bit surprised, though; Deep Silver, the publisher behind the Saints Row series, recently teased a new Saints Row game, which is expected to be helmed by none other than Volition as well. It is possible that both a Red Faction and Saints Row game are both in development, but it seems like it would be better to focus on one at a time.
THQ Nordic has big plans this E3, with two games already slated for a reveal and many more still in development. Their acquisition of studios has been endless, too, with the most recent one being Piranha Bytes, the studio behind Gothic. We can probably chalk Red Faction Evolution up as something that will be announced at E3, which is amazing news for fans of the series.
