The Last of Us Part 1, the remake of the critically acclaimed 2013 game, is a little more than a week away. The developer released a new launch trailer ahead of the PS5 release. Check out all the flashy visuals, impressive facial animation, and more below.

The Launch Trailer

The trailer reveals some important story portions of the game. However, you don’t have to worry about getting spoiled if you haven’t played the original game. You can safely watch the trailer as it doesn't have the context of the scenes.

Lack of Gameplay Footage

The trailer once again doesn’t contain a lot of gameplay. It just reinforces the online belief that the actual combat and stealth aren’t that different from the original game. The lack of gameplay improvements has stopped many fans from buying the game at full price.

Impressive Facial Animation

The trailer does contain tons of scenes of characters talking and face close-ups. If I didn’t know any better, I would think Naughty Dog is just flexing its facial animation tech. And why shouldn’t they? Facial animations in ND games are miles ahead of any recent AAA games. Uncharted 4, six years ago, has better face tech than most games released nowadays.

Release Date and Platform

The wait for The Last of Us Part 1 is almost over. The remake will be released on PS5 on September 2. However, PC players will continue waiting as no release date has been provided for them.

It is confirmed that the Microsoft Windows version is in development and will arrive shortly after the PS5 version. Although, what Sony means by “shortly after,” is a mystery.
