Resident Evil 7 biohazard will make you work for one of the game’s strongest weapons, the shotgun. It won’t be easy, but here’s how to get the shotgun early on in Resident Evil 7 biohazard.

[WARNING: This guide contains Resident Evil 7 biohazard spoilers. We need to give away minor plot points to help you attain the shotgun.]

First, let’s talk location. Once you’ve taken out Mr. Baker in the garage, the game will direct you to the Main Hall of the house. Right next to the Main Hall entrance to your right as you walk in is a bust holding a shotgun. Grabbing the weapon will trigger the door behind you to lock itself. There’s no way to grab the shotgun and quickly run out; that would be too easy.

This is where the fun begins. You’ll have to solve a puzzle found in the upstairs area of the Main Hall. Search the rooms until you find a projector facing a painting of a wolf. This is an important part of the puzzle. Exit this room and go to the bathroom on the second floor of the Main Hall. See the tub filled with what probably is old blood and guts? You’ll have to stick your hand in there, drain the tub, and pick up the Wooden Statue at the bottom. Head back to the projector and move the wooden statue around until you solve the puzzle.

Unfortunately, it won’t be a straight shot to the projector room once you find the Wooden Statue. Mr. Baker will greet you at the bathroom door and will chase you around the Main Hall. Try your best to sneak around Mr. Baker. Solve the project puzzle to get access to the lower rooms of the Baker residence. Once you’re in the new area, look for a pile of flesh with a Scorpion Key sticking out. This key is vital to the next part of the puzzle.

Of course, Mr. Baker will continue to creep around the Main Hall so stay alert. You can’t really kill him at this point in the game. Anyway, the Scorpion Key unlocks the room to Grandma Baker’s room. Search her room until you find the broken shotgun, which should be by her desk. Take the shotgun and head back to the lower floor of the Main Hall where the bust is located.

Don’t worry, you’re almost finished.

Now take out the good shotgun and let the door close behind you. Next, place the broken shotgun in the bust. Congrats! If you’ve made it this far you’ve survived Mr. Baker and have a shotgun. As for the broken shotgun, you will be able to repair it and get an even better weapon later, but let’s not get ahead of ourselves.
