Hearthstone’s Grandmasters Season 2 is Finally Here

The second season of the Hearthstone Grandmasters is finally here. During this tournament, the world’s top 48 players fight to get a spot at the 2021 World Championship. It is going to be divided into three regions: the Americas, Europe, and Asia-Pacific.

Matches are scheduled on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, and held during these periods:

  • August 13 to August 22
  • September 3 to October 10

The global prize pool is $486,000 and split between $64,500 for each tournament from Week 1 to Week 7, and then, $34,500 for the playoffs.

Tournament Format

From Week 1 to Week 7, players take part in a Weekly Dual Tournament format. Matches actually begin each Thursday with the top eight moving forward to the weekend matches. Players then get points based on how many wins they had each week. The points determine the final standings before the start of the Playoffs.

Specific details are:

  • The 16 players in each region fight against each other off-broadcast in Dual Tournament Group play on Thursday.
  • On Friday, the four Decider Matches are played to see who joins the Top 8 per region, which is live on YouTube.
  • The Top 8 players participate in a single-elimination tournament on Saturday.
  • The Top 4 advances to Sunday.
  • Gameplay format changes every other week:

    • Week 2: Last Hero Standing
    • Week 3: Conquest
    • Week 4: Last Hero Standing
    • Week 5: Conquest
    • Week 6: Last Hero Standing
    • Week 7: Conquest
    • Week 8 Finals: Conquest

Twitch Drops

For Season 2, fans have the chance to earn as many as six packs. Just watch a total of two hours on any of the YouTube channels mentioned to get one pack. Watching an additional two hours gives another pack. Here are the packs fans can win:

  • Grandmasters Weeks 2 t7: Year of the Phoenix (max of 2 packs)
  • Grandmasters Playoffs: United in Stormwind (max of 2 packs)
