'Fortnite' x 'Squid Game' Crossover: How to Unlock the Games Guard Skin Early

"Fortnite" is collaborating with Netflix hit show "Squid Game" just in time for the show's long-awaited third season. Hitting on June 26 at 8 PM ET, this crossover brings a tsunami of "Squid Game" content to Epic Games' legendary battle royale, such as special cosmetics and an engaging new game mode.

But the actual excitement begins one day earlier, where players can earn a chance to get the highly sought-after Games Guard skin for free before its release in the Item Shop.

How to Get the Games Guard Skin Early in 'Fortnite'

The "Squid Game" collaboration debuts the Games Guard outfit, a character skin based on the foreboding masked guards of the show. Though officially coming to the Fortnite Item Shop for 1,500 V-Bucks, fans can get it early by playing the Squid Grounds Cup on June 25.

To win the Games Guard skin, the following must be done:

  1. Get into the Squid Grounds Cup event.
  2. Compete in a maximum of 10 games during a 2.5-hour time frame.
  3. Finish among the top teams on their regional leaderboard.

This is a Duos event, so players must either bring a partner or queue with a random partner.

Regional Rewards Breakdown

Not all areas provide the same amount of rewards. GameRant gives us a glance at how many teams can qualify to earn the Games Guard skin:

  • OCE (Oceania) – 150 teams
  • ASIA – 150 teams
  • ME (Middle East) – 150 teams
  • EU (Europe) – 1,350 teams
  • BR (Brazil) – 150 teams
  • NAC (North America Central) – 900 teams
  • NAW (North America West) – 150

Receive the Free Masterful Stare Spray

Even if you don't end up taking home the grand prize, "Fortnite" has still included a bonus: the Masterful Stare spray, with the intimidating Front Man from Squid Game. To receive this special spray, players only have to get at least 8 points throughout the event.
